Stephen is a highly experienced operational and transformational business leader. Operating at the C-suite level, he has been at the vanguard of delivering legal market change, and is internationally recognized as a leading expert and innovator.
Throughout his 25-year career in legal services, he has consistently been at the forefront of delivering market change. He has advised leadership teams of professional services firms on delivery optimization, with a focus on maximizing profits. His expertise also extends to innovative client delivery and growth strategy.
Previously, Stephen played a pivotal role in creating Clifford Chance’s first ‘paralegal’ capability, supporting the firm’s corporate and finance practices. At Hogan Lovells, Stephen built an alternative delivery and innovation capability with a team of 400 professionals. Under his leadership, complementary businesses in financial services consulting and technology were successfully launched.
Stephen was Vice President of Get Sh*t Done at Elevate, where he worked with customers to define their ‘jobs to be done’. He designed market-leading solutions to address the business-of-law challenges faced by law departments and firms. He led the integration of consulting, technology, and service offerings at an enterprise level, positioning Elevate to seize opportunities in the evolving market.
Stephen joined Elevate in 2020 from Hogan Lovells, where he was responsible for innovation, data science, legal tech (AI, machine learning, automation), digitalisation, legal operations and disruption.
Earlier in his career, Stephen worked as a lawyer in both private practice and in-house roles. Subsequently, he served as managing director for two divisions of Orange-France Télécom in the UK and continental Europe.
With a well-rounded background in law, business management, and innovation, Stephen continues to be a driving force in shaping the legal industry’s future, delivering impactful solutions that drive success for his clients and organizations.
